1989, fall of the Berlin Wall: East German runner Ida Nowak (17) touches West German soil (literally) for the first time in her life and accidentally finds out that she is not a woman, but also not a man – but both.

In the midst of German reunification, Ida’s world is turned upside down and she must find out what and who she really is. While Ida tries to maintain her career as a runner and her relationship with her boyfriend, she begins to explore her masculine and feminine sides.
